Forever Active
Dear ,

Chairman’s Message

Hopefully everyone has been active over the summer and is looking forward to their classes in September.

As you will read in this Newsletter September is National Falls Awareness month – do take the opportunity to be involved and increase your activity levels at the same time.

Classes only exist when we have enough people attending a class to enable us to pay the instructor and hall charges. If you have friends who you think would benefit from enjoying some activity and from the social aspects of classes, have a word with your instructor and if there is space available invite them along.

Also please note that we will be holding our AGM in November (date and venue to be confirmed in the October bulletin) – there will be significant discussion about the future of Forever Active at the meeting.

Falls Prevention

September features Falls Awareness week (18th to 24th).

The week is a dedicated time for health care providers and associated organisations to focus on falls, including awareness, prevention, risks and education.

With an ageing population, falls are becoming increasingly more common and can happen to anyone. But we can all play our part, experts believe the vast majority of falls could be prevented with some fairly modest changes to our lifestyle and homs
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust provides via the Healthy You service, tips, checklists and all relevant information that will help you stay safe and prevent falls. This includes active exercise with Forever Active!

Take 5 to Age Well

A project run by the Open University, Take Five to Age Well offers five steps to boost your health and well-being.

Launching 1 September, the campaign invites you to join a UK-wide community making small daily changes for better ageing. The program will ask you to choose and keep up the healthy change(s) for one month, pledging your commitment to ageing well.

It will support you to turn those changes into a habit for long-term health and well-being.
